    Question working abroad

    For those who qualified optometrists from the UK can they work abraod say in australia, usa, germany, holland france etc. without taking additional exams.

    In Canada you got to go back to optometry school

    Not sure about Europe, but America does... I'm pretty sure Australia does although i think there is a fast track system.

    Australia - you may be able to get registration based on your UK qualifications, although they have tightened the rules since the UK made it more difficult for Australian optometrists to work in the UK.

    USA - need to take further exams

    Germany and France - no optometrist profession, work done by Ophthalmologists and spectacles dispensed by "opticians"

    Holland- optometry emerging as a profession but still limited by the power of the ophthalmologists, not sure if we can work there without further study.
