    Tennis Glasses

    Hello everyone.

Quick Inquiry. I had a patient come in today that was inquiring about tennis specific sunglasses. He said around noon if hes playing and trying to serve when the ball is at its apex of the serve he cannot see it because it gets lost in the sun. He currently wears grey Polarized lenses but I did notice they have no Backside A/R coating. I was going to reccomend putting him in a Maui Jim pair with a bi-gradient Mirror but I am not sure what color lens would work best for him.

If you guys have any thoughts that would be great.

    Regards,

    jc17777

On a tennis court you want high contrast lenses, specially around noon.

A good blue blocking lens will do the trick.

It doesn't matter what color your lenses are... If he looks directly at the sun the ball will be lost... He will have to adjust his serve..

The highest contrast in optical lenses for outdoor use is still and only achieved with full 100% Blue-Blocking features.

You might give Kodak Total Blue a try. It's a grey polarized with blue AR (looks like a blue flash mirror - really attractive!), so you get the benefit of a grey polar with the contrast of a brown polar. I tend to agree with some of the other comments that if he looks directly into the sun, he's going to lose the ball, period. However, that lens might give you the best shot. I also think a solid mirror might help, if you go with a different lens option. You could also tint a polar lens darker, but then you're going to lose some ball recognition and reaction times will be slower. Pretty tough issue to solve and might prove to be impossible. Best of luck!

Polarized lenses are usually not the type of high contrast
