I have a PT in a Poly PAL (ovation) with Nikon's Never Glare AR. He is complaining of a RED outline around things in the distance. Has anyone heard of this before and does anyone know what causes it or how to fix it? Thanks

Chromatic aberration. Fix it with CR39 or Trivex.
agreed. It's an issue with the material. Change out of poly.
I have heard a rainbow of colors, yellow blue and greens for Chromatic Abb, but never just red. Also the PT sees the red haze looking directly through the center of the distance portion of the lens, and only things further than 20 feet away. everything is lined up correctly. Can this still be Chromatic Abb?
I had a child PT with a very low Rx, just enough to qualify for medicaid lenses, so it was poly or nothing. She complained of red lines. Could that also be chromatic abb?
Are they being wrapped in a red cloth or red material lined case?
Did it to the edges of my Silhouettes' from a new micro cleaning cloth over the course of a few months. It's visible when held to a white cloth.
BTW- I'm a stickler for wrapping them before putting them away (which I do frequently) and guess what--- 2 years and counting with no scratches! Avance AR.
I have a patient who upon her first visit informed me that this was an on going problem for her. I originally put her in an Accolade, which helped. Throughout the years, we've tried others on her. Currently she is wearing a Comfort Enhanced with Prevencia. Always CR-39 and never poly. Hope this helps!
Very much so....since prism disperses light in a deviant way. All lenses are a series of prisms, and dependent on the Rx, the base-apex alignment will be different from lens to lens.
Rx lenses therefore creates a varying break-up of white light.
Prism is the cause.....the material of the lens exaggerates the phenomena
Look ma.................a rainbow!
Eyes wide open
Tint his lenses Green that'll fix the Red problem..................
90% of everything is crap...except for crap, because crap is 100% crap
On a serious note most likely CA but..... as a long shot need to R/O any heme type pathology

anytime there is a new color shift, in any color, and poly is the lens, change it. Chromatic aberration may appear differently to different people, or may simply result in fuzziness or eye strain. Poly and 1.67 are the most likely culprits, but I have seen it in other materials as well.
