Ok... if you have the Dr measure the Pd and include that in the Rx, what Pd do they give? I suppose they would have to have an in depth discussion about lens availabilities and lens functions. So they spend a longer time in exam room while the other patients wait. Isn't this what the optician should do? I'm the one who explains the lenses and spends the time going over everything with the patient so I'm the one who knows what measurements are needed. I have no problem if the patient takes the RX to another optician who then does the measurements. I may not like it, but at least someone is going over the information. (and is taking the responsibility) Lets say the Dr gives them PDs for FT lenses as discussed in the office and they decide to get progressives. Or lets say we give them the Rx for office lenses and they order something else. THAT's the problem I have with the Pd dilemma. The Pd and other measurements should be done by the person who is making the glasses. Just my thoughts.

Being realistic, finished eyeglasses should not be sold online PERIOD. There is not much reason to not sell frames alone online, but the FDA should regulate them.
If finished eyeglasses are allowed to be sold online, the FDA should regulate them and periodically sample pairs and ensure they are made to spec.

BUT having us measure the PD just to fill in a gap in a competitor's business model is RIDICULOUS. I'm not even withholding information that I possess, it would require me to do extra work, taking longer chair time, just to find this additional information which is then useless to me.

We measure p.d.s in angstroms for accuracy in the digital age. And we record it in base 2 numbers. Just our personal system.

    Mine is: 100010110100011110011110011010101010111110000111000111000011 01 OD.
    OS is slightly different:10001011010001111001111001101010101011111000011100 011100001100

(Yes, I look like a freak.)

Seems like a very determined effort from someone who spends too much time on the computer and thinks he knows more than he really does.
