    Inexpensive Kid's Frames?

    Hi all,

Could anyone suggest who to go to for bulk kids frames? I have seen them for as low as $XXXX with a larger quantity order, but can't seem to remember where I've seen them. Some background: our office offers a decent frame selection, but the doctor also sees a lot of patients with medicaid. She also does some charity work throughout the year, and we need to keep costs down in order to make this feasible. Unfortunately, we are limited on what we can offer in these situations and still be able to cover our costs. Even in the cases where we can show parents the benefits of "upgrading" and purchasing frames/lenses outside of the parameters of their insurance, I like to offer an insurance pair as a backup. If anything, we aren't just leaving money on the table that way AND the kid has a backup.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I cant help you as we never carried children's frames. If you carry children's frames it just encourages parents to bring their children into your office. Send the little gomers down the street to your competition. No one ever made a nickel selling glasses to children.

The exception to this rule would be my grand children and great grandchildren. They are well mannered, polite and neat to a fault; in short, a delight to all they meet. They always clean their lenses properly and take them off with both hands. And they always put their glasses in their case when they go out to play.

We get out "savings package" frames from the same medicaid lab. $XXX our cost, we sell them for $40. That way, if medicaid ends.... only costs $40 to purchase the frame...
Obviously, this low retail is not something we push
Comes in handy for those 2nd pairs for young kids.

If you are referring to the JR Vision website, they have, like many others, online ordering available for their wholesale customers.

We fit all kids all the way down to babies, and even though they are not always as well behaved as some of our older patients, the results are often very rewarding to all involved. I really appreciate referrals from w.c. field types who kick them down the road.

As for the tots, I love Miraflex and Solo Bambinis. Inexpensive, trouble free and very well designed for tiny faces. Larger kids I like nikes, flexon, and Safilo's new kids line (although had a plastic hinge break yesterday, so I'm worried about this line). Also do a lot of Liberty sports.

    I hate Miraflex!
They don't break and stretch out so children can wear them for years! :(
I never had to RX same children frame year after year with yearly changes in RX..... 4 times was the record. They only changed the straps.

Fortunately, most tots grow and need larger frames over time, but then there's also different colors, spare Rxs, sunglasses and sports glasses to keep you busy. But I get tongue in cheek. Great frames and very reasonable, as they should be, being stamped out by the zillions.
