    Views and Transitions

I am trying to figure out if there is a difference between these 2 lenses. Both are made by Essilor. I have been unable to fnd any information on Views on the net. Of course Transitions are everywhere. Are they the same thing? Any response would be appreciated.

I believe "Views" is the name a company licensed to refer to its photochromic lenses. I believe, but don't quote me, that they are Ormex Transitions.

Ok I just hit the Ormex site. There is an Essilor logo in the corner. On the questions page I do not find the "whats the diff. between the two lenses" question. If they liscense a patented product to be sold by someone else under a different name, doesn't that defeat the purpose? I'm still confused. I do notice that both the views and transitions lenses have the exact same patent numbers though.

I believe the difference is in the index. I think Ormex is mid-index aspheric. If you post the question about the difference between Ormex and other Transitions products to theSmart Lens Technology by Transitions Optical forum, Jim might be able to help you with that one.

I believe Views are to Transitions what Featherweights are to Polycarbonate. (Hint)

Views are 1.56 index "Ormex" Transitions. If you look at the small print on the box, it even says they're made by Transitions. The Ormex lenses can be a pain in the posterior to surface, and in my experience they don't get as dark as T3 or (especially) NG Transitions.

Never worn them, only surfaced them and yes I do find them a little quirky myself. For some reason we have the tendency for swirls once in a while. I just wonder now why the patents are the same. I would think that (knowing nothing of patents) they would be the same as the G3's because they have the same patent.
