Quantum Innovations, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants to fill three positions available for Field Service Engineer to provide technical service and support for equipment within the ophthalmic industry. These new positions will join our Technical Support Team which is dedicated to minimizing downtime and generating lifelong relationships with our customers, suppliers, and employees.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position requires a background knowledge of electronics, elecro-mechanical controls, and pneumatic controls. Preferably in a manufacturing, or industrial setting. Travel on short notice is required once training has been completed, and is a core component of this position.
This is not an Information Technology related position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide installation support, maintenance, modification and/or repair on various mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic sub-systems within a thin film vacuum coating system produced by Quantum and other manufacturers, both at customer site (optical laboratory) and internally.
  • Assess customer needs in regards to maintenance, spare parts, modernization, and improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Provide customer training.
  • Commissioning of vacuum coating equipment and scientific analysis systems.
  • Promote Quantum customer service.
  • Help customers plan future service.
  • Travel within US & Canada (greater than 80-90% of total travel), occasional travel to Mexico (Less than 10%). Travel can often occur at short notice, but for a limited time (14 days or less).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2 year program in manufacturing engineering technology or equivalent, with emphasis on electric/electronics, automation.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and other electrical control devices.
  • Prior knowledge of vacuum coating a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deal directly with customers.
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, statistical process control and problem solving.
  • Self-motivated.

  • Proficient software skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Eager to learn and provide a quality service.
  • Work as a contributing member of a team.
