Is EyeMed suddenly restricting premium progressives?

My coworker is trying to order a Hoya ID Lifestyle Clarity with Super HiVision EX3 AR for an EyeMed patient. The closest lens options to these in the drop-down menus on EyeMed's ordering page are the Hoya ID Lifestyle (older model) and Super Hivision (lesser AR). Just for comparison, I looked at the Essilor lens options as well, and there was similar throttling down; no Enhanced-level or S-series lenses to be had. Is this a lab-specific thing, or is EyeMed restricting premium progressives all of a sudden? I haven't seen this before, and neither has my coworker.

Full disclosure: I'm in only my third week at the new job and they're using labs with which I'm not familiar: Advance in Rochester and Homer in Virginia Beach.

I believe this has more to do with your EM lab of choice and their lens offerings than a restriction by EM per se.

Well- thinking about it maybe some labs find they can't profit enough from some of the high end lenses with what EM is willing to reimburse.

Edit-Log in to EM and look for Provider Resources. You'll need the doc's tax id # and location zip code. Log in and go to "quick links" click [ progressives ] also on top of the page in red is an urgent message. It's about offering high end Hoya and Zeiss lenses in more labs.

    Site kind of answers all!!!

I just checked my Eyemed...I can not order the Hoya lenses you were trying to get but I can get the Enhanced and S Series lenses from Essilor....It is probably a lab specific issue

Thanks, y'all. Looks like it's an individual-lab thing.

Is it maybe that the new Hoya lenses are, well, new? Like really, really new?

Maybe? VSP has it listed as an option to order on their website. Your guess is as good as mine at this point

Part of its the lab, part of its the insurance company. Sometimes I think they are just in bed with Essilor and make us jump through hoops to get differing product.

That and who really thinks an Accolade is a premium tiered 4 pal, while something like the Auto II or Intouch is just a cat 3?

Anyway.. up way to late.. otherwise I could go on with my rant on this..

Wow this is true? Sheesh. I guess its not too much worse than the Unity fiasco though.

According to my Hoya rep, this is actually an EyeMed issue. EM doesn't recognize these new products as an option yet.

Perhaps it has something to do with the LC? I know they use the accolade pretty often, or at least they used to.

My office just ran into this Accolade issue. K level versus a Tier4.
