    Hoya BluTech Sun lenses

Quick question: How do the BlueTech polarized sun lenses not interfere with reading phones, car dash displays, and other devices? Our rep showed us a sample and I tried it my self and was amazed. The biggest complaint about polarized lenses is people can't read their displays and so on. Is BluTech the only company with the technology to make a polarized lens that doesn't interfere while reading electronic devices/ car displays?

Wow I never realized that so I went and grabbed a demo, you are durn right!

Hmm. Well I never use the Hoya version of the blutech - I use our own house digital lens on it, I do use them (bluetech) as a premium lens. This is a breakthrough in selling them though wow.

The only reason I can think of is that the polarizing filter is not very efficient.

Our rep told us something about "front side polarization," if that means anything to anyone here with a better grasp of optics than my own.

The polarization effect should interfere with any polarized display. Try rotating the phone; the screen should disappear (or at least fade a bit) at some rotation. If it doesn't, see post #3 above. Also, test your sample on the glare from a window sill or pavement with the sun in front of you; does it reduce glare as well as a pair of polar shades from your rack? Is the axis of the polarization at some oblique angle? If so, not much good for driving or other traditional uses.

The displays of tast 5-8 year are oriented 45°, so try to use polarized lens and rotate your phone 45°. display 'll became dark

If the screen never becomes fully dark then the polarization filter grid is probably wider than normal polarization filter. This would mean less efficient at reducing polarized light blocking. I am sure that the lenses are blocked up along the 180 (or is it 90) so we can use cell phones with the lenses but if its truly polarized then rotating the phone or the lenses should darken the screen.

Blue tech used them comparison 80% polarized. They make no assertion that these lenses are "fully" polarized. They are a noticeably effective filter, yet less of a filter than say Younger, but I lack the ability to Quantify the differences. When I hold the bluetech lenses over a snellen projector the only noticeable change is the color (Clarity remains.)

I have notes on this somewhere. Something about it being a selective filter so only the harmful band ranges were eliminated. I will see if I can find my notes..

When did Blu-Tech sun lenses come out in polarized? I don't sell them so I must be out of the loop.

Boeing is also supposed to have a lower level or different polarization that is approved for pilots; hence the Boeing name.
I have not seen the blu tech or the Boeing yet.

It definitely changed the color of the screen just didn't black it out

I've wondered why they're not vertically polarized, which would make the screen brighter when wearing polarized sunglasses, but it's probably because the same screen can be mounted/turned either vertically or horizontally, reducing costs over multiple applications.

Just wondering if there is any new insight or if this thread just about covers it? Anybody selling these on the regular or fitted any pilots?
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?
