Can someone tell me what the comments are referring to 2 Bin divided?

I think it's saying "2 BI divided", i.e., "1^ BI OD, 1^ BI OS" on the SVNO lenses.

    That's non-standard notation.

What ever happened to standard Rx notation? Have we become too lazy or too stupid?

Will we soon see: -2.00 -1.50 X NNE or how about PD = 0.0016 Furlongs?

Agree (not with rbaker comment) it is also presented in a vertical format. Why the subterfuge, put the B In at the Hor Prism column on the prescription.

Maybe the 2 bi prism is divided into all 4 lenses - a pair of sv dist, a pair of sv near all with a total of 2 bi.
Therefore .5 bi in each lens.
    ;) ok. probably not.
    probably.

Likely 2^ BI total, split, probably near only, possibly distance and near. Call the prescriber to confirm. Show them how to write it so that you don't have to call them every time they prescribe prism.

That's the unit we use when people ask us to release their p.d.

This is what I get from it:

    DVO OD: +1.00 ds
    OS: +0.25-1.25x150

    NVO OD: +3.50 DS 1BI
    OS: +2.75-1.25x150 1BI

Probably to help ease convergence. I can see how this could potentially be miscommunicated though.

I don't believe I've ever seen that format.

Maybe they were concerned it would be interpreted as prism in the distance, although they could have clarified it in the comments or special instructions.

All we can do is try. It never hurts too talk. Better to do so in person, if they'll give you five minutes. Don't forget to bring business cards (and maybe donuts).

Two Rxs certainly eliminates any ambiguity about the prism, but I wouldn't be surprised if less experienced opticians will still call for an ok for multifocals, and maybe the add power.
