The markings are H>e* . I know they are Physio, but I've never seen the * symbol. The patient thinks the lenses are from Japan.

Thank you
mdeimler,
I grew up about 8 miles from 3 Mile Island (Colonial Park area between Harrisburg/Hershey)... I check out the cooling towers as we fly into Harrisburg International!
As mentioned, "*" = Trivex. You also have:
No Marking = 1.50
"X" = 1.56
"P" = Polycarbonate
"6" = 1.60
Pi Symbol = 1.67
"74" = 1.74
You can also download a depiction of all the design markings from the PDF at the following link:

Pete
Wow a Pete Hanlin post!
double WOW
Second post in 4 years! :)
Hey Pete I enjoyed your seminar on troubleshooting progressives from Vegas 2 years ago.I still use some of the techniques r egularly! Nice to see you on the board, you were great in front of an audience
You'll have to wait 2 years for a "You're welcome"
C'mon now... I still lurk here from time to time! (On this occasion, I was reading the thread about "remote refracting," and noticed the question on Varilux markings.)
Glad you enjoyed the troubleshooting presentation- I'll be giving that one an update soon.
Crap, Pete.
Keep essilor out of this as a favor to all that's good and holy.
It's nice to see you posting again, Pete!
To be fair, I think drk was just hoping Essilor would stay out of the remote refracting issue (to my knowledge, Essilor has no stake or position- I was just professionally curious as someone who is licensed as a Dispensing Optician in Florida).
However, this highlights the reason I tend to be a "lurker" these days. But I still enjoy keeping a pulse on the market (e.g., there was an excellent thread on dispensing to millennials here a few months ago- several characteristics of this generation make them very challenging for the private practitioner)!
Pete, please don't let a few posters keep you from posting more often. You have a lot to offer here.
True that Happylady but....It's when threads like this crop up that I imagine Pete feels like he's much better off lurking.

And you can see why!
