What to do with stolen goods

Alright so something I've never had to deal with before,

Last week our office was robbed/stolen from two days in a row. A total of 11 frames were stolen (all Gucci, Ferragamo, designer label stuff) and the culprit was arrested earlier this week, due to my identification of the 'getaway' vehicle I might add!

So an officer brought in one of our frames yesterday for identification and to confirm the frame belonged to us, which it did. So my question is this, once we get back our product do we resell it or return to the manufacturer and reorder the same product?

I'm of the mind to return the original product and reorder new as I feel it gives the frames an "icky" feeling. And honestly I don't think I would want to buy any 'stolen' product from any business. Problem is I don't think my coworkers feel the same way. The head optician is planning on putting the frames right back on the shelf (so it seems) and I'm curious as to what others would do or have done with similar occurrences in the past.

    Thanks!

Put the thing back on the board and sell it. Icky don't count in the optical goods business.

It's not like a house that a murder occurred in. There is not likely to be any "icky" factor from a potential client looking at the frame. It is an inanimate object which - unless damaged in some way - carries the same value it did before it's out-of-store 'adventure'. There is certainly no need to wax poetic about the events in which the frame(s) were involved in to anyone.

    Clean them.

If you return them, they'll be on my board.

As a second thought you might advertise the frame as being recovered from a gang of international thieves and charge a higher price. Turning "icky" into money is what separates the successful from the also ran's.

Clean them, sterilize them. stock them. I'm sure there are people who would be put off knowing the story behind them but from a retail standpoint that doesn't matter. Sell the frames and never worry about it again.

alright I think I get the gist.

Still waiting to get all the product back to check for damage but sounds like they'll go back on the shelf, just with a "Hot Product" tag

    They're not hot, They're yours.

Maybe hot in the sense people are willing to go to jail to have a pair, Which in turn makes them more valuable.

By the time you get those frames back, they will no doubt be discontinued.

I also assume that you filed a police report and have put in a claim with your insurance company. Sounds like a win, win to me!

First of all put them in a dark drawer, preferably in a dark room, and let them sit for 36 hours.
Remove them, gently warm the temple tips for a moment and then 15 seconds of silent meditation.
This always works and now the frames are purified and ready for sale.

I wish we were lucky enough to get any frames back, we are in a nice part of town that is unfortunately next to a train station... we once had 32 frames taken all at one time and the little *******s were never caught. I heard a story from before I worked here that a tranny pulled a gun on one of my co-workers over some Gucci suns! I would clean them and sell them if they aren't damaged but if you felt really off about it, I'm sure your rep would exchange them for you.
