What is the purpose? Ironically, I am sending my lab guy down there that weekend to meet with our lab. (I haven't told the lab yet-or maybe I just did)
We are not users, but are looking at all the systems. Might be a good place to go and pick some brains?

Just realized today is April not May, the meeting was yesterday and the day before.

It was a very impressive meeting with lots of people that are not only sellers but developers from...

    Innovations
    CC Systems
IOT - Several representatives from IOT including U.S. and Spain
    Vision Ease A.R. coating equipment
    optotech equipment
    Leybold rep
    Ultra optics rep

Not to mention owners of several VERY large US and 1 Canadian independent lab.

It was nice picking everyone's brain, The meeting is well worth it for anyone running their own lab as well as people selling IOT who are now offering training of their lenses by an ABOM to come to your office on-site.

Johns, If I can answer anything don't hesitate to have your lab guy drop by.

Day 2 had at least 6 classes offering nothing but trouble shooting and open question sessions for all the reps/manufacturers and especially CC systems who positions themselves as your first line of support whether your generator is not working or you're having non-adapts. They truly make it easy to transitions into their software.

My definition would be a fully automated lab with with 5+ Digital generators and 8+ digital polishers, 2 MEI edgers and do in house Zeiss and crizal.

Another lab has an exclusive for Seiko digital progressives for Canada.

    They're big independents to me.

Braheem, one thing that I'm seeing is that they all seem to use VisionWeb for their connections to the lab, which incurs a fee. Any idea on what that runs, or does it vary by volume?

Per Job? Wow, that would run into $100's of dollars each day. I know I'm cheap, but that really sounds like a ton of cash, considering your paying the initial cost as well as the licensing fees (I assume).

You don't have to use VW. Most of the labs have their own!
If you submit to multiple vendors VW is easy to enter and see the progress.
I don't think the office is paying anything. The lab does. So they will have to chose the way they want work in their system

I order almost all my jobs on VW (Not Icare labs), and don't pay a dime. The only time I paid was when I participatited with medicare, and filed my claims thru them.

We order ours direct with ICL and don't pay a fee. I don't think there would be a fee to just order on VW either (although I wouldn't). The fee (I think) comes when you link the office software with the lab's software via VW. Not worth not worth $30k alone to VW. We'll just order direct and use the software for the other applications.

Misunderstood previous post here, thanks for clarifying.
