PITTSBURGH, Dec. 17, 2002 — Trivex lens material from PPG Industries was granted the prestigious Optical Laboratories Association (OLA) Award of Excellence in the ‘Best in Lens Materials’ category for 2002.

The revolutionary eyeglass lens material delivers the unprecedented combination of excellent optics, impact resistance, thin and ultra-lightweight qualities in a single material.
The 16th Annual Awards of Excellence Presentations were conducted during the annual OLA meeting at its President’s Dinner at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Each year the OLA membership selects manufacturers whose products make outstanding contributions to the ophthalmic community.

“It’s an honor to receive this distinction so soon after lenses made with Trivex material became available,” said Gerard F. Dooley, commercial development manager of optical products for PPG Industries. “We know that laboratories and eyecare professionals have been pleased with the material and are especially delighted to receive recognition from such a highly respected industry association.”

OLA is an international association founded in 1894 to serve the needs of the optical laboratory industry. The association sponsors an annual international exposition and conference – “The OLA” – the world’s largest show exclusively for optical laboratories.
