NMOptic, despite Warren's comments I applaud any avenue you take to advance your optical skills, great job! Keep up the great work!

These are advance subjects and not covered frequently, or covered well even by most Optical programs. I definitely wouldn't consider vergences first year "stuff" (as I too am an Optical Instructor).

Warren, you comments represent some of the reasons its so difficult to get students into Optical Programs (in even the 20 we have in the US.) They don't want to be bashed for what the don't know, encouraged to learn more yes.

If you will read my comments through, you will find I did applaud the efforts of this individual. It is the tone of responses that caused me concern. This person is trying to learn advanced material without understanding the basics, and seemed to argue with each clear response provided. I did not discourage her, instructor, but in fact I offered help. It is difficult to get folks into programs because we do not require any education, not based upon my comments. If the field saw any value in it there would not be an issue.
