Hey guys, I wanted to start a thread on frame production. Does anyone know what machines are used to hand make a cellouse acetate frame? Process and techniques? I've seen a tiny bit on it, but most people don't seem to know much about it. Any and all information would be great!
What volume of a single style do you want to produce; a dozen or a million?
Probably more like a dozen.
At that volume you will probably be able to produce zyle frames with hand tools and a few low cost power tools (Dremel, small belt sander and Skill saw) readily available from your local hardware store. A small dedicated work bench will be a great asset. And, of course, a certain degree of mechanical skill, lotsa patience and a willingness to learn.
What about inserting wire cores into the temples? What type of equipment might a small producer use to do that?
