I'm trying to help an fellow employee and friend improve their vision. They've had some difficult times over the last few years. Here's some info about them and what I've looked at so far.
My friend is 60, diabetic but seems to be well controlled. He is a hyperope.

Read newspapers, etc for two hours a day or so.
Enjoys movies.
In the past he has worn Physio 360 lenses.
We've discussed the Shamir Auto III and the Seiko Surmount but the Seiko is hard to find in the Utah, Nevada, New Mexico area where we work.
We both work in the engineering side of optics and not dispensing, so based on the experience of those on the board, which of these lenses would work best based on what's been described or should he consider something else? Any fitting issues to be aware of?
We've seen Sharpstick777's comments on the Surmounts. If they were easily available then they sound like a great option. In our discussions, the lack of local availability concerns him because the two local dealers that have access to them have never done a fitting.
The Auto III is more readily available but again not many fittings to go by. The Varilux DRx is sold often here.
