    Kappa Edger Wheel Speed Settings

Hello all, not sure if this is the correct area to post this question. We have a Kappa edger (with grooving and pin bevel), however we've noticed that recently after a software revision that our polish wheel slows down at least 1/3 to 1/2 of what it did prior to the update. I've searched the manuals and through the edger settings and cannot find where wheel speeds are controlled. I know there has to be a setting (more like a voltage setting) to control wheel speeds for different materials, beveling and polishing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think you can control the speed yourself! Might be only with software!

If the machines weren't so darn expensive, I'd say cut the trace drop in a mosfet and use the cut trace as control (gate) if the voltage reaches high enough, tie the drain and source to your power supply and motor with a potentiometer inline for fine tuning your power and speed.

Of course you would need to spec out the motor and you could probably tap right into the power supply unit in the machine depending on what voltages it supplies. You would have to make sure to throw some caps on that line to avoid spikes and DEFINITELY make sure those caps are rated high voltage as the motor is going to have some serious power needs so cause some serious spikes.

There HAS to be an option for wheel speed in the software and it HAS to be adjustable otherwise you would not be able to compensate for new materials or changing out your wheels to wheels with different grits.

I can do this on Optronics and Santinelli Machines.

Call coburn, often times there's a hidden menu.
