Like JB weld you mean?
I love JB weld.
What do you want to use it for? I have repaired pin holes in tint tanks and it worked.
I have emergency metal frame repair in mind. Figured there's a reason I don't find this sort of thing in optical supply catalogues, yet I'm sure there's industrious experimental types among us who have some light to shed....
Thanks for the replies!
Liquid solders are molten metals developed to join two metal surfaces. They are powerful, water-resistant adhesives that offer an effective alternative approach to the conventional, high-melting point solder interconnects. Liquid solders are an increasingly popular, heavy-duty adhesive choice for many metal workers and contractors.
I do not think that these item should be used to fix metal frames as glue adhesives will dry out at some point and the continued pressure and flexing will help to create a new break.
As an emergency fix guilty as charged. Chris is right, but it should delay enough time to order their new pair.
I have JB welded a few clients spring hinges, never had one come back.
I've even used it to fix eyewire in a pinch, big glob, then file it down a day later, eyewire is obviously a temp solution though. But I just did it for a 9 year old who was OD +4.00 -375 X130 and it held his zyl together long enough for him to get to his opthomologist for a new RX. (Lets see Warby Parker do that!)
EDIT: I guess JB weld is a steel based epoxy so I guess it isn't quite the same as a "liquid solder", works great though...
