    Tom Magliozzi - RIP

Tom, of Car Talk passed away today. If you listen to radio on NPR, or PRI, you will know who he is. Tom was the older brother, but they both had the most infectious laughs... along with a lot of auto knowledge. I am so sad... been listening to them (including the re-runs) since the early 90s.

    What a total bummer!

I love listening to those guys. Since they retired from the air, I've been getting quite a kick out of listening to the old shows that have been playing.

    Damn...........

Very sad. My wife and I used to love listening to Car Talk.

"Car Talk" was one of three Saturday shows that made me laugh, at times, uncontrollably, through the 80's and 90's.

I can't help but think that the Magliozzi brothers, when they saw this scene from the movie "My Cousin Vinny", nodded approvingly to each other, saying in unison, "****ing A".

The best conversation I heard with them was a woman who called in with a drivetrain problem with her 1970-something, POS. After extensive questioning from the bro's as to whether it was making a clank or a clunk and having her mimic the sound, they started asking her about the color of the car. "OK, green. Light green or dark green? Are there a lot of scratches? Any rust?" The poor woman of course can't figure out what difference the color of the car makes, but is too polite to stop answering.

I almost drove off the road, I was laughing so hard. Great guys. Their column is still in the Sunday paper. Hope it continues.

WBUR in Boston still airs past shows. Click and Clack retired about 2 years ago. It will continue under the soon to be renamed "Best of Cartalk" because after all the show is more about the foibles of human nature than car troubles.

A couple weeks ago we got to chuckle about the mostly male habit of public nose picking in the privacy of your car. I, of course, couldn't relate.

I listen to it on Sirius radio. They have the weekly Saturday show/reruns and play 3 hours of it everyday on one if their channels!

    Love it.......the laughter is infectious!

I loved the goats episode... a guy wanted to attach a connection from the battery to the car exterior so his goats would not jump on (and damage) his girl friend's sports car. The theory was that they would get a shock and stay away from the car..... but the episode devolved into something altogether different. Now I need to find it on Car Talk.Com and replay it!
