    Confused Fractured Glasses?

    Hi Everyone!

I had a patient come in today who has macular degeneration and he was asking about fractured glasses. I have not heard of these! Can some one help point me in the right direction or maybe decipher what he means? He said they were supposed to help him with reading? Thank you in advance for any help!

Never heard of "fractured" glasses. Maybe he is trying to refer to bioptic?

I was thinking Bioptic or Prismatic Magnifying Readers.

How about "refracted" instead of "fractured"? Since you're talking readers, maybe the suggestion was to get a refraction and order prescription lenses rather than OTC readers. Just a thought.

Maybe a Fresnel press-on optic. Regardless, they should see a low vision specialist for guidance.
