    Question Mystery Progressive Marking

    Hi,

I have a patient who purchased her progressive from a Sears Optical a few years ago. I am now changing out one of those lenses, however I have no idea what progressive it is. I have looked at every progressive identifier there is. The marking is a traditional circle and underneath it says NL. It is not a very prominent marking...it is quite faint. I have also called Sears Optical and they do not know what they sold her...nor what they sell in general. They just call it a progressive. I know that it is a 1.67 lens and I know that it is transition and seg of 19. Does anyone have any idea what progressive this could be? I am stumped.

The lens is a transitions and they are a few years old. You should be providing her with a complete set of progressive transitions. The transition in the new lens will respond differently from the older lens, as they have a life expectancy of 4-5 years, it may also have a slightly different color then the older lens. Start with a new set of lenses.

Yes and I normally would do that, however she is an elderly woman with a fixed income. I am trying to do this the most economic way possible for her. If I cannot match the progressive design I will have no choice but to redo both lenses.

The tints will not match....at all!

You must consider if and how much prism thinning was done on the original pair. Add to that, what does your lab usually do for prism thinning?

I vote full pair..................to save a bunch of despair!

Nikon Eyes Customized uses NX 67 below the nasal circle. Nikon W has NC below an oval circle. I couldn't find anything else with 'N' below a circle from the 2011-12 time frame.
