VSP billing question on Hoya lenses

How does one bill VSP for a Hoya iD Mystyle lens without going thru all the hoops?

You can't. Bad news for the patient good news for your financials is that with this lens everything becomes a discounted job. If you do it by the books according to VSP when selling a special lens everything in the package is a 20% discount frame, lens, ARC, trans... everything.

All VSP actually pays you is your dispensing fee, the rest is chargebacks. If you really want to provide this lens to a VSP patient and they want it, just offer it to them at the equivalent VSP lens price plus a fee to make up for what VSP won't pay you, and do the job privately. Your profit in the end is identical to a VSP job, there were zero hoops, the patient only had to pay the (meager) additional dispensing fee, and you and the patient enjoy the benefits of private work without billing and lab restrictions. Just because a patient has VSP doesn't mean they are forced to use it. If they opt not to, you and your patient can arrange whatever private transaction you like.
