Edge thickness program visual aid app? Program?

Hi all,

Is there a program or visual aid we can create collectively or you can direct me to that will demonstrate the edge thickness or center thickness of a lens in real time using different materials to scale with an RX. Id also like this to calculate for lens shape, min ET for grooved and drilled. It should render in 3d to be viewed from all angles. I'm clearly not smart enough to put this together. Is it A - possible to create if it does not already exist and B - If it does not exist, put together some solid ideas and get a kickstarter post to make it a real thing? Is that viable or are these flights of fancy?

I know there are ET calculators like http://www.opticampus.com/tools/thickness.php but it doesn't really give a visual depiction or rendering of the lens.

If you have contact with Hoya, I believe they offer a program you can buy on iTunes for an iPad or iPhone that will do that and more. Check with their rep. There are probably others. In vision Monday or 20/20 magazine they had a big write up on apps of this nature.
