Thumbs up The UK's Greatest Cultural Contribution...

I'm sure there are those who would debate this statement, but IMHO the greatest program ever developed in the UK (nay, in the entire world outside of the US) simply has to be Father Ted.

If you've never seen this program, tune into BBC-America sometime and watch it. I swear this show usually has me literally falling off the sofa from laughter! Basically, it follows the exploits of a Catholic priest and his simpleton sidekick. Unfortunately, from what I understand the fella who plays the lead role has passed away some time ago- I sincerely hope all Britian mourned his passing!

Very few things we see in the movies or TV are actually funny anymore. This is one program not to be missed!

Not sure what night it comes on, but it usually comes on around 9pm on BBC America. There are other shows like Absolutely Fabulous and the Monty Python Show and some soap opera that's really popular in the UK (which makes no sense to me). If you don't get digital cable, you probably don't get this channel. I'll have to tape a couple episodes and bring them up for Thanksgiving.

    Simply hilarious stuff, though!

    Point of interest...........

I am going to send this thread to iconnell and I am sure he will have a lot to say about it. Father Ted is one of his favorites. It is filmed in his villige of Corofin, Co. Clare, Ireland.

You can pick it up on BBC America and occasionally on your public TV station. We've gotten it on both.
