  • Social media question...

So we are trying to up our social media game at the office. We would like to feature some happy smiling patients in their great new specs on our facebook page. I was wondering if any other offices that are doing this use any sort of photo release for the patients to sign?

We just ask. Everyone's been cool.

So far everything we have done has been the patients uploading their own photos in our comments. Just want to make sure we are legally in the clear with just a verbal OK.

We're in Canada. Apparently a lot less concerned.

<by law you do not need a release unless you use their likeness in a ad for distribution and print. IE: biz cards, printed ads, billboard etc...
Now... i would def ask for permission as a courtesy.

Patients are entitled to release their own health care information, and share their picture as they wish. Permission is inherent in the act of sharing.
