Is your blocker to the right or left of your edger?
Is your blocker to the right or left of your edger?
Right
I think you'll find that labs in general are setup backwards(right to left).
The reason is, most machines are setup to run the right lens, then the left.
My current lab is setup in a left to right(clockwise) setup, and every now and then we get a breakage due to people running the left lens first.
Then you have to get a big pointer on a broom stick ---------------> pointing the right way
If you're right handed, the natural movement would be to take a step to your right and grab a tool with your right hand.
If your lab is set backwards, you take a step to the left when you finish edging, grab a screwdriver with your left hand or crossover your body to get it with your right or make it a 2 step process grab with left and give it to the right hand.
Lensometer, Frame tracer, blocker, hand carry tray to edging. Edge, turn 180 degrees and hand bevel. Only because the edging bench has two edgers on it, with a third next to the hand beveler.
I read Left to Right, so I work Left to Right
My lab has its ups and downs.
we just went paperless so we put a computer terminal in between the blocker and edger. We only do finish work in this office and its First inspection w/ computer terminal > blocker > computer terminal > edger > handstone > assembly > back to the first desk for final inspection. I dont want to say its a hodge podge or the platypus of labs but we do alright for what it is. Personally im left handed and lysdexic so anyway its set up would be backwards and upside down anyway.
Actually, I'm an agnostic dyslexic insomniac. I stay awake nights pondering the existence of dog.
Clockwise. Lensometer, blocker tracer, edger.
