Thanks guys! Just took the ABO this round.. I bought a copy of the Contact Lens Manual a couple weeks ago, figured it was good karma to start studying NCLE material and just assume I passed :) Can anyone tell me how we go about finding out what our score was, though? And can anyone speak to whether the NCLE exam is more difficult than ABO?

I passed as well. I was eagerly anticipating taking the ABO Advanced this Fall, but it looks as if it's cancelled. So I guess I'll just start studying for the NCLE and take that in February.

Congratulations Chad! I've heard that they are reworking the ABO advanced exam to put more emphasis on ophthalmic optics and less on management.

Congrats to my apprentice who studied GMC's "How To Pass The ABO". She just got her results, and is waiting for the "How To Pass The NCLE" to come out! Thanks Gary!

She'll be waiting a while for that title to come out, at least from me. I learned enough about contacts to pass the NCLE 20+ years ago, then promptly forgot it all. Glad the book helped her pass the ABO exam.

Sorry Aaron, but ABO-NCLE doesn't give you your score anymore, only pass or fail. As for the CLRE test, I would say it is far more difficult than the NOCE test, but then again, I had NO contact lens experience. I still passed with an 87, thanks to that Contact Lens Manual from CLSA!

Hmm, okay. It was an adventure studying for the ABO exam, as it ended up being mandated by my supervisor back in January, and due to some serious staffing issues I wasn't able to really start studying until about 1 month before my test. But by some miracle, I was able to learn enough to pass that test in 30 days. This time I'll actually have a few months to study for NCLE, so hopefully I will be less stressed. :) I found a used copy of the Contact Lens Manual for $40, think that'll be enough to pass?

Hello.. Anyone take the ABO exam May 2014 in Cleveland Ohio? I took mine the 24th and nothing yet, its been 8 weeks.. Other people took it May 16th and found out 4 weeks later. Hmmm

Thanks, PMarie. I did take it in Pennsylvania, yes. If I were you I would give them a call and ask on Monday about your results. I just spoke to them a few days ago because of a glitch in their system (my certification was not attached to my online profile), and during conversation the representative said that the actual certifications themselves would be mailed out this week or next. So if they are mailing out the certs already, I would think all the results are done by now.

For what it's worth, I only received an email notification, not regular mail. Just received a letter from them about my renewal procedure in 3 years, though. So you may want to look at your inbox again too.

Thanks for replying back Aaron. Was the PA test rough? Did it have a lot of things on it that Opticians don't use? The Ohio ABO was hard, my test was all Prisms, slaboffs and things I didn't know or use. The girls that took it a week before me in Ohio found out 4 weeks later and they all failed it, they thought they did good. I don't think I did well either. I was hoping it's taking longer cause maybe I did pass. I might take the PA test this August.
