Eclipse – An All New Surface Blocker [/bc]
SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. – Gerber Coburn Optical Inc. adds Eclipse Surface Blocker&#153, a state-of-the art surface blocking system, to its broad line of lens processing products.

Based on the highly popular Step One&#153, Eclipse offers standard features and higher throughput, plus several new features, indicated Randy Baldwin, group product manager, Gerber Coburn.

“Eclipse has new features such as an automatic material fill with overfill sensors, a turbo chilling chamber, and an automatic block and lens detection system. Customers can choose between a unit that dispenses wax or alloy and one that employs Gerber Coburn’s standard pin blocks or AcuBlock™ blocks,” he stated. Baldwin went on to say “Eclipse is our 21st century version of the Step One Blocking System, which revolutionized the preparation of ophthalmic lenses for surface generating nearly a decade ago. We’re pleased to be able to offer this all new version that meets the current needs of all size laboratories.”

According to Baldwin, “We believe that innovation is based on listening – then applying original thinking and current technology to what you’ve learned. And with Eclipse we’ve done just that.”
Eclipse offers a long list of new user-friendly features/benefits, including:
    • External 10” View Screen displays downloaded job information and frame data
    • Block Adaption System allows labs to use their current inventory of blocks
    • Automatic Block and Lens Detection alerts users if a lens or block is not detected
    • Small Diameter Blocking Fixture allows small diameter lenses to be blocked
    • Interactive Material Filler uses a pre-melter to drip melted wax into the reservoir
    • Automatic Material Sensor displays a warning signal when the reservoir is low
    • Automatic Material Fill with Overflow Sensors fills the blocking chamber with blocking material
    • Turbo Chilling Chamber reduces the time to block lenses by 50%
