Put the brake cleaner on a cloth first or spray directly on the headlight?

On the cloth, for a more "Green" approach I have seen that toothpaste works as well:

Well after watching the toothpaste trick and the brake fluid trick and I also had bought a restoration kit for headlights. I am not impressed much with any of them. You can still see some fogginess in the lens which is just deeper hairline cracks then just the surface ones that polishes removes.
Now the chemical used to edge polish polycarbonate lenses. I'm a believer in that stuff for the lenses. I have yet to use it on headlights but I have a gut feeling that there will not be anything out there to trump it in ease of use and how great a job it does.
The video Chris posted is impressive. I leaves the headlight looking NEW. Not like a polished used one.

Tooth paste is mainly white rouge so it is no great mystery why it will polish a plastic headlight lens. Or, swipe some polishing compound from work and you have a cheap solution to your hazy lenses.

Dick........................and if you use a toothbrush to do it you will be busy for 2 weeks with a break for a nap in between.

The polycarbonate lens on headlights has a layer of oxydation, that has to be removed. Doing it mechanically you have to sand of the layer, then you have to use a 200 grit and following that polish it with a buffer and your toothpaste. Which brand would work best ??????????????????

    Headlights are made with Polycarbonate.

It dissolves Polycarbonate. Therefore you can use it to soften the surface of the material stick it together and it will fuse the material. Therefore it will work on Poly like the old Acetone work on Cyl materials.

What is different is that it also removes the oxidation layer instantly.
