You bought your MD's dispensary? I don't see how you can go wrong, if the price was reasonable. I don't even have a doctor (all outside Rxs, no insurance), and I couldn't handle any more work.

Plan is moving ahead, soon will be independent again. The wife asked me the other night if I was going to pay myself, all I could manage was a stare and not to laugh.

You will absolutely JAM in your practice. It's not new...same place, but the profits will be going to you. You know how to buy and you know how to run the office, but now, you will be making the smart decisions for you, and not someone else.

Update: Got an email confirmation yesterday of my first frame order going out. Special thanks to Johns for helping out, I really need it. As it gets closer, my nerves are getting tied up, no more pay checks, how do I pay my mortgage? Where's the cash flow going to come from? Lots of what ifs.
Ideally you should be stocked the first month and not spend any money for inventory.
Whats else do you need?
I have let the existing inventory run down, and will purchase it at closing. I needed to supplement what I have have at a very reasonable price, and Johns was able to offer me that.
Are you farming out your jobs complete or edging them in house? If farming out ..which lab and why?

When you say you are buying out the MD, are you staying within the MD office?
I do finish all my own work, except drilled. My lab of choice is U.S. Optical in NY, mostly because I have a very good rep, and he stepped up to help me out, and they have great products and quick turn around time.
I am in a satellite office, with an OD associate of the MD, and yes, I am staying put.

Sounds like you bought an established dispensary with an OD on site that DOES NOT get a piece of the pie.... SWEEEEETTTTT! Assuming you are not the sole source of income in your household (even if you are) ...this is going to be very good for you!
