Saw quite a few at Mido 3 weeks ago . I Know nothing about them but knowing how much tweaking even the best of them need I would be cautious. Be difficult to get training, and service unless they have a US distributor. I sell a lot of Chinese equipment and they have come a long way but you have to know who you are dealing with. Two pieces that may look the same can be completely different in quality. Same for Chinese lenses.

With the number of american and European edgers available, I would never buy a chinese edger.

Its inherant that an edger will be designed for the needs of its primary market first. Choose an edger made in a country with high labor costs and people will design an edger that requires less labor to run, with higher reliability in general, and less handwork after a job comes off the box.

Saving money on an edger is rarely saving money.

I've been down the Chinese edger road in recent years and it didn't end well. Software issues that can not be diagnosed render them useless within a few months. They do allow you to ship them back to China for repair but the turn time on it was 2 months. It ran for 3 weeks upon return from service. Buyer beware.

Never even think for a second about buying pure junk... It might look good for a few weeks then look out....

Seriously? I am being 100% sincere when I say that I would not take one if it was free. I make my money in the lab, and need everything to be the best it can be. I know how difficult it can be to keep the good edgers calibrated and humming...I can't imagine what the cheap ones are like. (I have bought inexpensive, but good named, used edgers, but I've been bit a few times that way as well. Not always, but sometimes.)

I bought a SJM 4002 from China. DHL Shipping dropped it out the back of their truck but the company sent me a new one. I do have some soft wear issues from time to time and it has eaten a lens from once in a while but I have been in this business since. Do far this week 48 jobs and running strong but tech support is difficult. I wanted a new soft wear update but don't know if they offer one and if so would not know how to upload it anyway, so I can just hope it keeps running true. Any one else have one give me a shout. I am opening up another store and will be needing another edger by July.
