    Backside Coating Trivex

New to this forum, I'm a surface lab manager having issues with backside coating Trivex. We use MR3 coaters with UVNV...we encounter a far greater number of coating pits, or "bubbles" on Trivex than on CR39 or poly. Anyone have the same issues? Suggestions? Our spoilage is ridiculously high due to this.

Thanks for any help you can provide

I can't imagine why you would have a higher % of defects with trivex as opposed to other materials. Can you post some pics of the defective lenses

A surface is a surface and there should be no difference between materials. Check you filtration system.

Have you tried blowing out the high pressure water nozzle? The nozzle can clog at times and needs to be blown out with an air hose. When the nozzle is clogged little drips of water stay on the lens when it goes into the coating chamber.

You may also want to check the rpm's on that spindle...the spindles can go bad and not produce enough rpm's

    Hope this helps
