gmc has been diagnosed with lymphoma

Specifically, Diffuse large B cell lymphoma. It's an aggressive type, but very treatable.

I started chemo about two weeks ago and it's going pretty well so far. The treatment cycle should last until about Mid May.

The prognosis is good and I'm going to beat it!

In my case, with perforated colon cancer, the prognosis was bad: 5-8 month to live.

I had only one thing in mind during chemo ............. you are not going to get me. It was not a pleasant period, but will power worked and I am still here 22 years later.

    Be positive and beat it.

I just went thru colon perforation and removal; it sucks! But you will be back better than ever. Your will is what you need to heal fast and persevere thru the recovery.
We will be thinking of you.
Make sure the pain meds don't make you sicker than the rest of the procedure. This caused me more problems than the surgery or the leaky colon.

Be positive and listen to your body. Keep a routine as well as you can...and when you are tired...sit and rest in your favorite chair!

    Good Luck and God Bless,

I'm past due for an update.

I'm doing very well with the chemo. I go for my third treatment on Tuesday. I'll be halfway through!

I've had very few side effects. Almost no nausea. I've not taken any anti-nausea meds in weeks.

I did lose my hair. No big deal. It'll grow back.

I've lost a lot of weight, partly due to dieting before diagnosis, then during the early stages. My weight is stable now which is what my oncologist wants. I'm off BP meds for the first time in over 20 years!

Once this process is done, I'm going to be healthier than I've been in a long time.

Everyone has been so supportive, it makes it easy to maintain a positive attitude.

Awesome news Gary! Great to hear it! (I have to say though, if the next book you write is titled "Lose Weight and Get healthy in 6 Months", I'm NOT buying it!

That one probably wouldn't make the best seller list.

I'm doing very well. My major side effect of the chemo treatments has been fatigue. Other than that, I'm doing great.

I'm working a slightly reduced schedule. My employer and coworkers have been incredibly supportive.

I had my final chemo treatment about a week ago. Next up are CT scans and a PET scan to determine if there is any cancer left. If not, I'll have scans to monitor it every few months. If there is still any activity, the doctor and I will determine the next course.

Thanks to all for the concern and support.
