    overheated alloy

What wil happen with the alloy which was overheated by 90-100 Celzius degress ?
I would say that it will decrease its lifetime, but about the performance i am not sure.
I would like to hear some personal experiences, not just theory.

It has been my experience that too much heat will cause some sublimation of the lower temperature components of the metal, essentially "burning them off", leaving the metal with a higher melting point. If you look at the slag in the bottom of your deblocking tank, that's the result of too high of a melt-off temperature.

Somebody probably decided that they didn't want to wait so long for the metal to loosen up from the lens, and simply cranked up the temperature.
