Do you ever get those psychologically frail women patients who swear up and down "my tint's not dark enough".
"Darker."
"Darker!"
"DARKER!!!!!!"
What do you do with that?

There are also limitations as to how much you can tint a lens before it is rendered useless under normal conditions; think glacier lenses, something task/environmental specific.
Just sell them a welding helmet.
And...you're done. :)
Welding shade 10.
tint welding 10, keep soap, water and microwave in office to undo. dont send them back to lab for no reason.

I can't stand people who are psycho about their vision. 20% of the light hitting your retina shouldn't be a problem, Mrs. Mole.
Google OCD and you'll find estimates that 2% of the population has it in some form. But that's supposed to be the same ratio as sociopaths. Hmmm... I'd rather deal with her. God knows I've had to deal with both types and then some but I've come to accept it comes with the profession.
Thank goodness I'm amply compens...oh bother!
We used to see that a lot, but when we started offering them polarized lenses, 99% of them were fixed.
Just a thought, have you tried putting the patient in an unlit closet with the door closed.
To be fair, I've never been quite comfortable in a #3 of anything myself; always need it just a hair darker to be really comfortable outside.
When I comply, I usually get back "Oh...too dark!"

We do a black mirror over a grey polarized and that is as dark as we will go. Anything else and it is time to move on.
Heh, recently had something like this happen, only it WAS too dark. The lab sent back what was supposed to be a SV G-15 #3 job on trivex with a tint that looked something in between G-15 #2 and a sort of turquoise... Sent it back with a match tint sample from a pair of Ray-Bans and got back what were essentially welding lenses. Guess someone at the lab got lazy/PO'ed.
Barry,
You do your own tinting? What about it fading with out an AR over it? We try to avoid tints by charging an extra $50, but we send a tint sample for 100% of our tint jobs to the lab and they are ar coated so as not to fade. It is a pain, but we tell folks it is the hardest thing to do is a light tint with AR.
