    optician2601,

I do include a lesson, All About Contact Lenses.
I am sure it would help anyone studying for the NCLE however it is an "overview" lesson so you would still need additional material for NCLE preparation (not for the ABO).
Since I am not a contact lens practitioner I paid for a specialist to develop the lesson.

"This lesson was created by Phyllis Rakow. Mrs. Rakow is Director of Contact Lens Services for The Princeton Eye Group, a multi-specialty eye care practice with three offices in central New Jersey. She is a JCAHPO-certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, an NCLE Advanced-Level Contact Lens Technician, and an Honored Fellow of the Contact Lens Society of America. She has lectured throughout the United States and Canada, writes for numerous trade and professional publications, served a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Contact Lens Society of America, is serving her third term on the Board of Directors of the National Contact Lens Examiners and is on the GPLI Advisory Committee.

She has contributed seven chapters to contact lens and ophthalmology textbooks, including “Art and the Eye,” that was published in the 8th and 9th editions of The Ophthalmic Assistant. Mrs. Rakow was the recipient of the Kenneth V. Swanson Merit Award, which is given to “individuals who have made significant contributions to the contact lens industry,” in 2002, and the Joseph W. Soper Award for Excellence in Education, which is presented to “individuals who have significantly impacted the perceptions, careers, and attitudes of their peers toward contact lens education,” in 2012."

    Hope that helps,
    John

    John is right!
The May ABO test time is just about 15 weeks away.
That is about a week to study each lesson and be ready for the test.
I found the practice tests he provided the biggest help of all.

John's OpticianWorks.com is a well organized and informative site. The practice tests are extremely helpful. Best of all, John is just a phone call away if you have questions

    Thanks for posting.

But - I am always just an email away - not a phone call.

    Blondie,

    Speaking as a teacher -

Depending on your experience it might be a little late to start studying for the May exam?

I believe you should have received a packet when you signed up that reviews the material and even provides a practice test?

    You may pass easily.
If you should not then sign up for OpticianWorks and work through the site between May and October when the test is given again.

That would depend on how far along in your studies and practice you are.
If you just need a refresher and some practice with basic formulas, lensmeter and prism you could still get some use out of the site.
If you hope to go from zero to passing the ABO before the May exam then not a chance.

Could you clear up a question someone asked recently?
Can you take the ABO in Canada?
I thought you had your own program and test?

    Thanks,
    John
