    Idea million dollar idea

    http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/27/i...degree-photos/
Gosh, wouldn't it be awesome if we could somehow take a 3d image of a frame and then in some way, perhaps by magic or some other sorcery, transmit that image to a facility and create a custom fitting clip on for virtually any frame? Gee wiz that would be great if the patient didn't have to send in their frame for a week and be without their glasses while some company made them a clip on. Oh, im sure there might be some exceptions that wouldent work for a clip, but im thinking 85% of the frames on the market would work out just fine and dandy. You might want to look at clip bridges to, not everyone likes the arch that goes across the top. Huh, I wonder if that might work? Well, good luck!Click image for larger version.

I´m sure in few years you can take all measurements to provide online sales in a better way.
PD Measurments are already no problem online and are exact. Fitting High is als no Problem, if the custumer likes only new lenses in old frame.
The only Problem is the exact position of a Frame in the online shop to the wearing position on the custumer head.
With a 3D Model of the Head, and 3D Data of the Frame the online business will grow very fast. Many will be not happy about this, but it is possible and a oportunity to match "offline" with "online" sales.
And 3D Printing at all, this will be the future.

I used to make hilco clips in the office but they were flimsy. Chemestrie is a cool idea, i like the variety of lenses they have available. We have a kit in our office to. This used to be real but they went under. Great concept, but the accuracy was terrible. Lots of redos. The turn around time was REMARKABLE, clip was in your office the next day. The customer service kept me coming back, they knew how to take care of people when something went wrong.

You will never have great fitting clips unless you have the frame in your hand. Can you fit glasses over the phone? Adjust a frame with the patient 30 feet away? Its no different, well fit clips will always require the frame just like a well adjusted frame will always require a patient.

Just send a loaner if its an issue, or with Chemistrie it only takes an hour to make a set, with new lenses.
