Has anybody here ever built a PAL IDENTIFIER light? What did you use.

HI. Thought I'd update to see if anyone has attempted this yet.
I've yet to build it, but seems like it would be simple.
Breaking it down to the basic components you need a good light (LED would be best I think), strong magnification lens, and something to hold the two. I could see using some basic things from home depot and then having a lab mock up a +20 (or go out and by a good large magnifying glass but I like to go the long way) if you want to add a bit of contrast to it have a second lens just above the light and add the grid pattern for drill mounts. I don't think I missed anything.
I have one made by Essilor. I've had it a few years, but I assume it would still be available. Obtained it with my Essilor Edge points before I switched over to Hoya as my primary supplier.
We used to make our own, now we import one just as good and a lot cheaper $199.00 for Optiboarders. By the time you buy all the parts, experiment with the proper grids, magnifacations, distance seperations and light sources plus your time it might be cheaper to just buy one. www.superoptical.com
