    LensCrafters is now using....

...what as their premium option instead of poly. 1.60? Trivex? Do they stock these in the stores?

When I was there it was 1.67 stock Pentax AR. I think we started at -5.00 in those lenses.

All the premium jobs are processed outside. SV can be either the 'new' (for LC) 1.60 Enhanced View or a Seiko 1.67. All the Progressives are DST, either 1.60 or 1.67.

Do they use that new opticam system to take POW measurements too? The commercial makes it look like it's only for PD but is it used for all the "bells and whistles" measurements too?

'Yes.' It's all spiffied up with a prism and wrap arm, and can do frame measurements. It measures all the way down to 0.1mm. Fancy. Unlike the finish blockers. Those are CS-7s.

Do they charge additionally for that or is it included now with all their SV surface and Multi-Focals?

Additionally. It's a tiered price system. In-house it's poly. Upgrade to High-Index. Which has to be ordered.

That's so odd for me to hear. When I worked there it was all about the Poly.

Now it's all about the A/R. The 1.60 is a side note (they're trying to make it the primary high index lens now). They have to pay back those shiny SP-200s somehow right?

doctor_who...seems to know, are they doing any hi-index surfaced in stores? I know they have stock 1.67 SV AR, do they also have stock 1.60 SV AR?

I KNOW ALL! Nope. They used to surface non-AR 1.67 in house, but they haven't in years. The 1.60 is all DST now, so they can't surface in house. Also, they don't intentionally stock 1.67. Cancelled orders, misorders, that sort of thing. Mostly they still have to order the finished lenses.

They are also required to use the "accufit system". PD's are not to be taking with a pupilometer or other non accufit methods. This is a tracked matrix too that the associates and store are evaluated on. Most people at LC don't know how to use a pupilometer at this point.

As for trivex, the company is "always researching the best options for their patients. Polycarbonate is a great choice for the customer if they want impact resistant. Trivex is not planned to be carried now or in the future"

It's still all about the poly, but some of us started using a ton of 1.60 and suddenly it shows up as a 1 hour option in sv

And now that they have the iPads, there are no calculators anywhere.......

What OIC said! They must also be pushing away from 1 hour jobs. It would be a rather precarious balancing act to keep your 1 hour stats high when you're farming out all of your AR. Perhaps they changed their entire emphasis away from 1 hour and cut tons of lab positions.

They aren't farming out all of their AR. They have stock finished I'm sure, and at least 200 stores, as reported by them in a press release last year, and likely more now doing AR in-house with satis SP200 machines. But that has to be on poly. Not sure if they can surface / backside coat 1.60/1.67.

Do they have inhouse freeform generators now? You can't use stock for DST. It's been so long since I've been in one of those stores.

    Nope. Not yet.

Also, the AR machines are only calibrated for backside poly. It CAN do any material but its not set up for it. They claim the AR process can be done in an hour but minimum process time is about an hour and fifteen. :P

If it's a one hour option, then it has to be stocked. Whose 1.60 are they using, Seiko?
