to be more specific, the video on this laptop has never had a problem, but now the video WILL play, but the display is all off showing the video at massive magnification. so weird.

Check the options on Media Player, not Flash.

            Start
            All Programs
            Accessories
            System Tools
            System restore

Restore to date when it worked.

Have you tried to change the "quality setting" in your player. (little gear thingee) You might have it set at an odd resolution. You could also check the "about Adobe..." and see if your player needs an updating.

hi, and thanks!! Yeah that was one of the first things I tried. It is very perplexing. I am a technophile but just can't noodle this one out. If you go to my Facebook page: Ian MacIvor (there can't be that many of 'me' out there, you will find the video I took of what I am experiencing. Thanks one and all for your assistance. -Ian

P.S. I have posted same questions to the Adobe forum, a Microsoft Media forum, and am getting some traction on Facebook, but still no joy.

THIS is really weird. When the laptop is on as power, the distortion/ magnification occurs. When on battery, it DOESN'T. ????????

                              Go into

                              control panel
                              power settings

set "AC Power" to match "Battery Power"
