    Progressive I've not heard of...

Ok, so I have a patient that bought her progressive lenses 2 years ago from Standard Optical and she's really liked the design. I called Standard to see if I could just make it easy and do use that same design on her new pair, but they told me one I haven't heard of yet. They said she's been in the MHD progressive lens. Does anyone know if that's just what they call a different lens, or if it's their house brand? Is it comparable to any other style? Thanks!

Never heard of it. My advice is to use a PAL design that's most appropriate for her Rx and visual needs.

More than likely house brand, more than likely digital.

Knowing Standard Optical business model and product selection process intimately...digital would be highly unlikely - though not entirely impossible. They have used old designs in the past, that they were able to get 're-branded' to suit their needs. Something like using their own watermarks, slapping a shiny coat of paint on an Outlook, and calling it the latest/greatest.

I wouldn't worry in the least about trying to match the lens - just take good clean measurements, and use your knowledge and skill to fit something better. Chances are very good you'll exceed the pt's expectations, and give them even better vision than they had with their last pair.
