FYidoctors acquires Vision Source’s Canadian assets and operations

    Tuesday, September 10, 2013

FYidoctors, a private group based in Alberta with more than 100 locations throughout Canada, has acquired the Canadian assets and operations of and has entered into a licensing agreement with Vision Source, a network of private practice optometrists all over North America.

Vision Source will transfer its Canadian assets and operations, consisting of 95 franchisees, to FYidoctors, including rights to the Vision Source name in Canada through a trademark licensing agreement.

According to a statement from FYidoctors, the agreement is designed to create a long-term relationship between FYidoctors and Vision Source Canada to continually fuel the preservation of independent optometry in North America.

<<since the Big 'E' is the lens supplier for Vision Source private label, its domination increases. Is this really preserving independent optometry? I certainly don't think so. Let's wag the dog folks>>

FYidoctors is serviced nearly 100% by it's own wholly owned lab producing their own private label free form products and coatings.

what the heck does this actually mean? does it mean fyi has effectively added 95 stores to its current 106? if so, that must've cost them a pretty penny.

          Seems odd?
I doubt they want to drop the "FYI" brand, too much money spent developing that and they would not own the Vision Source brand????

Maybe the opportunity to manufacture the VS private label product? However they seem to have struggled producing even for themselves?????

They will have very limited control of VS accounts (they dont own them, just the Canadian franchise), it only a franchise agreement, if even that, most don't fly the VS banner. More of a buying group from my perspective..

There is a lot of,,,,,,,,,,panic moves going on in this business right now.

I will make it real simple...'E' is fully behind and backing both groups. It's all about market share at any cost and is apparent. Yet the independent ECP's that don't belong to any of these 'drink the Kool-Aid' groups keep supporting them.

Sleeping with the devil will eventually burn and hurt.

Bumping this post from the past. FYI is going to be opening its first office in this city. Are they just selling E lenses with private label names?

Lenses are mostly PL with some Pentax mixed in for branding.
