Florida Reciprocity ??

Hello there, I'm a newb on this message board. But I've been licensed in NY since 2003. I just moved to Charlotte, NC in Feb this year. I am required to intern for six months and I do have to take some of the written/practical for contacts in October..which sucks, but whatever. I am actually wondering if anyone can give me a solid answer on Florida reciprocity. Does Florida waive anything for currently licensed opticians from out of state, or do you have to take the whole test over from top to bottom? Any information would be great!

Thank you for that link Gary. Much appreciated Did you move from another state to Florida or always been there? I was wondering since I'm ABO cert, NCLE cert, and NYS Licensed, would they require more tests because I'm moving from out of state? Just wondering if you had any specifics on that?

I got my Florida license in 1994 based on experience in an unlicensed state (Alabama). After New York submits the verification as described on the linked page, it looks like you would only have to take the National Opticianry Practical Exam plus meet the additional requirements listed on the right side of the linked page.

you must sit for the practical...which is now totally computerized. Here's a bit of info that's VERY important...you must take the test before you are in Florida for 2 years. Anything after that, you will have to start again as an apprentice....good luck!

You must remember the Florida State Motto: :We Don't Give A Damn How You Did It Up North!" When I moved there in the mid '90's, had to take the 3000 hour apprentice track.
