    Fishing Glasses

I have a lot of fishermen in my area who want Polarized Rx lenses either as an insert or in Spectacle frame with Opaque or polarized dark side shields. Any suggestions on what's best?

Chip, I would strongly suggest checking out Hobie. They had a frame called the Sportsman that is exactly what you are describing. When I was Ops Mgr, Rx for Hobie about 5 years ago, they had a strong Rx program that has SV, ST, and Prog in a variety of colors as well as PGX. OEM lenses, not a clone. You got the same Polarized filter as the plano lenses.
I was dealing with a lot of professional anglers (These guys made 6 figures fishing!) We are really in the wrong biz. Anyway, I heard time and time again that Hobie offered the best lenses. They used Action Optics, Costa Del Mar, MJ and all thought Hobie was the best. Bass guys liked the Sightmaster lens, a lens for fishing in the weeds and fly guys loved the PG brown lens for shallow rivers and streams.
Enough sounding like a commercial for Hobie. They do put out a good lens though. Gargoyles is the parent company. The Sportsman frame is a copy of Bolle 711 BTW. Good Luck, Anglers are a real fun bunch to talk to and deal with. You find a good lens/frame combo for them and they will ALWAYS come back to you like a favorite lure.

The Cocoons collection is extremely popular with fisherman, and in our focus groups has been chosen 10 to 1 over non-optical brands such as Fitovers.

Fisherman appreciate the fact that Cocoons offer 360 degrees of protection, (above, sides, front and below) All designs are patented, and we call this protection Advanced UV Protection.

The Polar TX lenses are optically superior to competetive brands, scratch resisitant and are offered to the public via eyecare professionals. The temples are adjustable (ComfortFlex) and probably the number one reason you should recomend them, is that they are available in five sizes and shapes. This means that the large Aviator shapes are not mandatory. - Recent developments in Cocoons have led to the introduction of Soft-Touch finishing, wich creates a soft feel to the frames, perfect for wearing over prescription eyewear, or as solo sunglasses.

The accessories are perfect for fishing, (clip case and Duracloth) and the frames are 30% lighter than competetive brands. Email us, we will send you a sample.

All of this for the same price as other brands. And reiterated by a lifetime warranty on the frame. -

Costa Del Mar has a model called the the Multisport. Its a zyl frame (6 base). It has side shields that are lenses. Opaque or solid side shields are dangerous. They eliminate your peripheral (survival) vision. Its available in Tortoise or Black, Rx or Non-Rx.
