    What do you call yours?

I had an appointment with a new doctor yesterday. I was instructed to take a seat in the "patient lounge." After lounging about for an hour I was finally seen by the doctor. I remarked that the term "patient lounge" was somewhat inappropriate as there was no bar or piano player and I did , after all, have to wait over an hour. Why not call it what it is - a freaking waiting room.

What do you call your area with a few chairs and some old Time Magazines?

The waiting area. But I like "lounge" better; I'm a pianist and I could jam over there between patients. Might even pick up a few tips...

They doggone well better be serving beer, wine, and hard liquor if they want to call it a 'lounge'.

"They" always say to not call it a "waiting area" or "waiting room" because of the negative connotation associated with the word "waiting" especially at a Doctor's office. We don't have a specific "area" but several areas around the place. I don't think we say "waiting" anymore, though...might have to listen up.

I hope I left enough quotation marks for the rest of you.

Cigar-sized ashtrays would also be nice.

We call it the waiting room. The office I work at runs very smoothly and patients almost never have to wait there very long.

We have an open bar. You do a few remakes, but in the long run it's worth it. Nobody leaves angry. You could call it "Mars" and people would still want to go there.
