We do all Eyemed in house. I haven't heard anything about a change in lab requirements.
It's funny how reps interpret the information!
The news was announced in December that Eyemed was updating its business model to a defined national network featuring Essilor's Laboratories of America.
They are wanting to streamline the process to have integrated claim/ordering functions, and basically do it the VSP way. There was some discussion about it then, http://www.optiboard.com/forums/show...h-Essilor-Labs. Personally I think it is bad news, but I am sure there are many who would argue its better.
Here is another article on the matter, http://www.businesswire.com/news/hom...ear-End-Growth.; and the original VM article, http://www.visionmonday.com/ViewCont...3/Default.aspx

If you are an EyeMed provider you need to let them know of your dissatisfaction of this arrangement and be prepared to no longer participate if this occurs. In a discussion with EyeMed at VEE, they indicated to my colleagues that they have had no complaints. My colleagues took a stand many years ago and do not participate with any insurance providers that require them to use their labs. They are very successful multi discipline and multi location practices.

EyeMed has become every bit as big a giant as VSP. With substantially greater than 50% of patients covered with a VCP, what's a practice to do?
Bend over.
Isn't EyeMed still owned by Lux? Wouldn't forcing all their patients to use an Essilor lab tip the scales into a monopoly and create anti-trust issues? Is there any difference between Lux & Essilor now, or have they finished morphing into one entity?
Non Essilor pals must be ordered from a lux lab in Texas. All pals to be edged by the lab with single vision can be done in house.
