Spring for the $25 a year and subscribe to TheLensGuru.com and you can find this, and everything you need to know about PAL identifications, availabilities, etc. This is not a paid advertisement, simply an endorsement for a site that has great information at your fingertips, and designed by an optician just like you. just a followup. does anyone know this lens? I think its a freeform lens from Pearle. in the 180 circles I saw an L and an X. the add said 168. and the marking was H18. I'd like to try to order a similar PAL for my patient.

ID:	11401This is the sola XL in glass is that what it looked like there's no H18 tho. It kinda sounds more like a Hoya lifestyle product. check page 13 and 14 on the pdf I think that's a better guess from what your describing.

Hoya used to use a H with bent sides in the GP lens, but changed it I believe. Did it have bent sides or were they straight?

Nope. Neither of those. Is there a resource for the over 200 freeform brands?

I would guess that H18 is the fitting height.

    Shamir Element.

Why go comparable though when you can do better?

If it's the LC HD it's the auto 2 or 3. I saw an element, but those are non-compensated. I worked at LC when they brought it out and it started as the Auto 2 then got their own markings. I was told (not sure how accurate) that it was still the 2 and was later upped to the 3.

When they brought it out it was the Autograph 1, not the two. It only had 16 and 18corridor heights, and still does ie: the H18.

I was also working in the lab at a test store for the lens. It might be the Auto II nowadays, I hope not though... This could easily be figured out by finding the corridor lengths available in store to the lab folk...

I knew it was not the 2 in the past, when they redid it 2 years back (I think) is when I was told it was the two. I think it goes down to a 13 now, I had to go back to LC briefly last year and they had expanded fitting hight.

You are probably right. I hated LC by the time I left though and hate the thought of them having access to the same technology as me.

I do love their robocam though. It has been rather unsuccessful round these parts, but I'm sure it requires a skilled operator.

lol The Acufit system: Taking the Skill and Responsibility out of fitting one new optician at a time. I cant say how much I hated that thing. 2mm Differences in Segs and OC unless the person sits in an upright completely unnatural way, and no way to fix it. I get to snag so many sales that run from them now.
