Can a compensated Rx give more than an 0.25 change?

If there are no POW adjustments?

The calculations change greatly by brand and in my experience; less is more! The higher the power and more curve the more they modify the RX. Be careful of them taking away too much power or creating too much BI prism. THis was my experience with Shamir Attitude lenses and we no longer use them.
We use compensated optics for all of our work and love the IOT compensation.

O yes, and in the most incomprehensible ways possible. New Zeiss digital foregoes compensations - interesting? Could there be a backlash coming? Could compensated rx's go the way of Diamonex, fast-cast and velociraptors? Time will tell.

If the compensated Rx works, why should it bother you if there is prism? It must be there on purpose

If there are no "position of wear" compensations - what are the putative (on-axis) compensations for?

Perhaps to compensate for................incompetent production variables?

Oakley has the compensated RX down. They do a great job. I've had issues with other labs doing it though.

    Robert,

Probably not, if the lens is positioned in the lensometer correctly...

...although there can be a Rx tweak at the distance and/or near reference point without POW (measured or default). But I would expect to see a compensated Rx form enclosed with the lenses.

    Care to elaborate?

    hi Craig,

we're currently using iot designs too, but we aren't providing POW measurements and some of the lenses are coming more than 0.50 underpowered, or with the axis changed by 30 degrees...

thanks to everyone for your advice so far.

If it worked no one would care, but the Shamir was overcompensated and they had many failures compared to IOT.

We use the middle brand which means compensated optics based on defaults, they also offer no compensation and compensated with yur parameters. I have seen many successful wearers, so if the issue is can the patient see and do they like the glasses or is this a question of why so much change?

I do not even question the IOT compensation because folks can see well. We did have one non-adapt to the compensation because the prior pair we did for her had none and the total near was now .25 weaker and she liked the previous ones better. We ordered with no compensation and she loved them.
