Best AR coating for SEIKO Surmount

Our lab was using Crizal Avance with SEIKO... however, our scratch warranties were through the roof. We were told that there was a substrate mismatch?

Anyways, we are doing alot of Surmount and customers are paying top dollar. With that said, which high end coatings are compatible with Surmount.

Not able to find many labs that do Seiko Surpass

Looking for high resistance to scratches and peeling. Currently using Duffens in Houston and Luzerne.

Seiko is a freeform, it can be made from a SV essilor lens so I don't see how they came to a mismatch conclusion.

Secondly, Crizal requires stripping of the manufacturer's original SRC and applying TD2 as the base, Again how did they come up with the mismatch conclusion we may never know.

I'm assuming that's a contractual obligation, can you not strip the seiko src and apply TD2?

I use Luzerne and I have them put Avance' on my Surmount's, all except trivex, and I have never had any problems. Patients have never complained and have never had any come back peeling.

you must be careful when trying to use anyone's lens blanks, it depends on the lens manufacturer since the algorithms are based on specific curves and if the curves of the SV blank you are using does not match, the design can be off.

I had been told the best AR they would use is their house AR (I forgot the name) -- not good.

The invoices come back with a coding of Crizal Avance and I've never had a problem with them. I'm wearing one now.

I have a pair of Surmounts in trivex w/ Zeiss Purecoat. Superb combination. Also US Optical has a new premium AR called Digital AR that has a non slip coating so you don't need Riki pads to edge. Just wipe off the coating after you complete the edging process.

Based on my conversation with him yesterday, Jason H is a great resource for PAL information in general and Seiko Surmount in particular (if you have an account with Luzerne). My thanks to him for giving us his extension number.

Rochester Optical has a coating called Diamante, and it's an upgrade on their Ole' Primo AR. You can also buy Seiko lenses through Seiko itself. Surmount = Perfas Prestige II. They have an excellent coating called Super Surpass ECP. Seiko is more expensive than Rochester Optical, though. Rochester Optical also has William Fruit (WFruit on Optiboard) -- a great asset.

Perhaps EVC is different now from what it was when I've used it. It was almost certain I would have to replace the lenses due to scratches within a year or so.
